THE ROLE OF INTERNATIONAL ACCOUNTANTS IN RISK MANAGEMENT

ABSTRACT

This research aims to examine (1) the role of international accountants in identifying and managing financial risks, (2) the effectiveness of risk management strategies employed by multinational corporations, and (3) the impact of global economic fluctuations on risk management practices. A survey research design is employed to gather data from a wide range of international accountants involved in risk management. The sample size, calculated using Taro Yamane's formula, includes 370 respondents, ensuring a representative sample. The case study focuses on Port Harcourt, Nigeria, known for its economic volatility and exposure to financial risks. The reliability coefficient score of the survey instrument is 0.84, indicating high reliability. Findings reveal that international accountants play a pivotal role in the development and implementation of risk management strategies, with significant implications for organizational stability and performance. Recommendations emphasize the need for continuous risk assessment training and the integration of advanced risk management tools to enhance the effectiveness of risk management practices.
